dc/dc step up converter (raplace 9v battery with AA)

So I'm building a project on a PCB-board, and I'm trying to find a replacement for 9v battery that create +-18v.
I'm trying to power a few NE5532 IC-ciruits, so +-15v would be fine. The 9v battery is just a cheap way to get the power, and i rather not use 9v battery.

So I'm trying to power it with AA battery. I would need an dc/dc step up converter, that I can't find anything on. I'm trying to get 3v to 15v then 15v to 30v with 2 AA....

Is There an Engineering Type: what is your experience?

Over the years I have noticed that people from different professions tend to have similar characteristics. For example, engineering types, not just electrical/electronic, tend to have common characteristics that are displayed time and time again. We started discussing this topic on the 'SSD...WOW' thread, but thought it would be better as a new thread under its own heading.

UPDATE 2016_02_18
Since this opening post some members have said that they may not qualify as engineers per se. Just...

Code Styling Guide for embedded systems

This is not a how to, rather a request. I look at some people code and it looks so organized and nice, where my code works, but is a total disarray. I tend to put most of my code in the main, guess I should use more functions and such. Would someone mind posting an example of how code should be organized and look, and maybe show some things not to do. Some things I wonder, where do you place your functions? In the C++ class I took I was told that functions go after main, but I have seen...

Resistor Wattage Rating

I've read that you should use a resistor with a wattage rating that is 20% greater than the load. Then, I've read double the wattage... Which is correct? I'd normally go for double, but when price and size are a concern, I question it and go for the 20% overhead.

Specifically, as part of a 7 segment display module, which eses 2 LEDs in series for a total Vf of 4VDC and running it at 25mA. My calculations call for a 330Ω resistor. The power through it is 0.193W. No heavy duty switching -...

Hello,

First post here. I hope I have to come to the right place. I've been playing with electronics all my life and am now finally reading more about them and learning the theory behind circuit design. A project has come up recently that I wanted to do a little research on before I start. I recently acquired a Hardinge CNC lathe and it is throwing an error. The error relates to the main control board and two eeprom modules that store the ladder diagrams for the machine. This machine was...

EMF / EMI causing MCU to hang? Help Needed

Good day guys,

I'm building an arduino based water injection controller for motor vehicle. It Uses the Airflow sensor and manifold pressure sensors as input. On my test bench the device works fine, doesn't hang and could go on for hours.

In the car, on ignition only (car not running) the device works fine. However, once the car is running it freezes after a few seconds/ minutes, just randomly whenever it feels like.

I opened up the pressure trace (to disconnect from circuit) and the...

I have an AC transformer - 24VAC @ 60hz (fed from 120VAC mains) that feeds a common set of power buss rails in a control assembly.

On this 24VAC buss, we need to inject 315mhz RF from a 2400 baud transmitter (FSK/ASK) and the separate this 315 or 433 Mhz signal back off of the power buss further down the assembly in several locations.

What is the best way to:

1) couple the rf signal and inject it on the 60hz power buss? and
2) what is the best way to pull off just the 315 or 433 mhz...

I am building a Melody Maker.. with NE555 andCD4017 to play 6 notes melody.. using the the first 6 outputs (0-5) and ignoring remaining 4 outputs.
I need Melody to start from the first note corresponding output (o) from 4017 counting to the 6th note (output#5) then reset back to (o)
When power is applied (12v) 4017 starts from Random output..intead of starting from (o) so, the Melody does NOT starts from beginning..! and ending soon.I have tried..various INHIBIT and RESET configurations...

Does anyone remember the old 3 tube amplifier circuit that used a 50C5, 35W4 and ???? what was the other tube...........12AT6 or something like that?

Does anyone have this circuit?

I already did a web search there are 100s of old tube circuits but not this one. It was never a great amp but it was a fun project for the beginner.

We're working on project that controls signals from daw (digital audio workstation - music production software). I 'm seeking for information and help all around .
The circuit needs to handle 64 analog inputs . the point is that i need to have kind of 3 positions for those 64 inputs .
So if the position is 1 then all inputs are assign to first 64 parameters , then if u put the position to B it switches to next 64 parameters and again switching it to position C brings new 64 assign...

Resetting DS3231 RTC

After many delays, I finally put some constructive time into my 16F1829 I2C interface with an imported DS3231 RTC module. Long story, short, using a scope on SCL and SDA really helped.

Initial program had a couple of short cuts that didn't work like I hoped (based on MCC's ap notes) they would. The RTC was either in an unknown state or quickly became that way. It would not release the SDA line, so there was a constant error. Unplugged the RTC, and the program seemed to simulate fine,...

yea I know this is an ancient chip but have always wanted to build something using one but chips are readily available but in an Sdip package unless I purchase 57 chips from a guy in Argentina!!
Well locating an Sdip socket is pretty much a wash unless I purchase for $12 one socket.
Before I go much further as I have an adapter PCboard designed and a PC board for a sound demonstration is there any interest in such a PC board.
My goal is a device I will call GRANDPAS REVENGE as this is a...

dramatically failed jump-starting

Good morning guys.
Two days ago the battery of my car was almost died. So yesterday I tried a jump starting, very simple exercise.
So I connected the + of the charged one to the + of the worn battery and then the - of the charged one to the body of the "discharged car".
I turn on the dashboard of this last one (not making the engine run, only dashboard), and everything was ok, the lights inside the car were on.
So I turn the dashboard off and start the motor of the car with good battery,...
